Youth activism leading towards coexisting of diversities in the community

The project idea is aims at achieving cohesion between youth and community groups and their common animation as a way to overcome the problems of multiethnic coexistence among youth. The main objective is to contribute towards increasing the role and activism of the youth in promoting and practicing the values ​​of multiculturalism and coexistence by creating a common space for interaction within educational institutions and other areas of public life in the community . The project is implemented by ANTIKO and the partner organization Multikultura and financial supported by the EU Delegation (EIDHR), with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Bureau for Development of Education .

The project activities are designed to strengthen the capacities of two different groups with multiethnic composition - ie 16 students of Pedagogical and the faculties of Social Sciences from the University in Skopje and Tetovo . Students will be trained by experts on 2 TOT trainings for multiculturalism and the experts will further providing ongoing mentorship for the young PEER educators. The university students will multiply the their knowledge with 200 students from four schools in multiethnic Skopje and Tetovo by organizing cycles of 32 interactive workshops. The realization of the project includes 8 professors from 4 - schools . In the second phase 45 high school students , teachers and volunteers from civil society organizations participated in the 6 day Summer School in Ohrid. Through the implementation of creative workshops and planning sessions the high school students will develop 4 action plans ( small projects).
The Summer School was facilitated by 2 experts while the team of 16 PEER educators has a role co-facilitators. In the third phase of the project the students through mentoring support of the PEER educators and teachers involved in the project conducted 4 public actions (projects ) in the communities .

Throughout the implementation of the project actions, in particular importance was given on establishing cooperation between young people, local governments, civic organizations, institutions and the business sector's. The National Conference was the final project activity. The purpose of the conference is to summarize the results and benefits of the project activities, focused on contributing to policy advocacy and enrichment of theory and practice in the field of peace-building in the community. The conference was attended by more than 100 participants: representatives of the target groups , government, educational institutions , NGOs , international organizations , associates , representatives of local self-government , council of parents , directors . teachers, mentors , trainers. The participants showed constructive cooperation regarding acceptance of the proposals of the youth and their further articulating in certain systematic and program solutions. The recommendations and the conclusions that emerged from the Conference were submitted to the educational institutions and other relevant institutions. After the implementation of most project activities, a brochure with good practices and examples of implementation of project activities was published. This brochure will serve as an additional resource to schools , civic organizations and other stakeholders in the community .
